We are the ones that invented arms and weapons. It is the intellect of our minds that we have changed the world the way we wanted to. In the recent few years, the world has seen the surge of dictators and cruel rulers. However, it has not been the case of present. In the history too, there have been incidents where humanity has been put under question by such rulers.
There were rulers like Phalaris who ordered their architects to make a brazen bull and roasted their victim alive. Now if this is not a matter of cruelty, then what exactly is. The history is full of such rulers who invented cruel techniques in order to give more pain to their enemy while killing them.

He was a Greek emperor and gained popularity with his cruel punishment techniques. The most popular one was his execution of people using a brazen bull. He asked his architect to make a bull-like structure that produces a sound of a bull. When the architect made it, Phalaris asked him to enter the bull and shout from inside so he could see if the structure actually produces such a sound. The moment architect entered the structure, it was put under fire. The architect roasted in it. Later on, Phalaris used to invite people over for dinner and put one person inside such bull. The whole dinner they used to hear bull sounds (that used to come as a result of person’s scream). He was undoubtedly one of the most cruel rulers in the history.
Idi Amin Dada
He was the dictator of Uganda from the year 1971 to 1979. His leadership was characterized by oppression of people, judicial killings, genocides and deportation of Indians from Uganda. He killed approximately 80,000 to 500,000 people under his rule. He was overthrown from the president post soon after people knew about his cruel nature. He died of natural causes on 20 July 2003.
Attila The Hun
He ruled the state of Huns from 434 to 453. He is usually known as the historic villain of Europe. He tried to conquer almost every region of Europe under his leadership. He was known to be ruthless to the prisoners of war and never visited them with any mercy. The cruelty of his deeds was popular all across the Europe and overseas. He got the doze of his own medicine and was assassinated on the wedding night in 453.
He was the founder of Mongol empire and he ruled most of the North East Asia. This was done by over-powering the tribes that existed there. He was a great warrior as reported by the historic gurus. He powered all the nomadic tribes of Mongolia and held them under his rule. He introduced severe measures for treason and executed people with pride. He was certainly one of the most cruel rulers in the history.
All the people who are aware of the atrocities committed in Khmer Rouge know this cruel leader. He was the PM of Cambodia from 1976 to 1979. Under his rule, the government killed hundreds of people and displaced millions. Under his rule, Cambodia was longing for food and shelter. He was responsible for the execution of over 1 million people. Pol Pot is known to be one of the most cruel rulers in the history.
He was the Prince of Wallachia and popular for his methods of execution. He used Impalement in order to kill the enemies. He introduced many new techniques in order to execute people and seemed to have enjoyed it. He was responsible for impaling almost 20,000 people. He would boil, burn, strangle, hang, roast, hack, nail, bury and stab people for fun. He did not know the ABC of humanity.
Ivan IV of Russia
Ivan IV of Russia had a nick-name and that was Ivan,, the terrible. He was a Russian ruler who was considered intelligent when it came to making decisions. However, he was infamous for the punishments he gave to people. He is known to have burnt thousands of people on a frying pan. He died because of stroke and did not receive the doze of his own medicine.
This gentleman needs no introduction. Adolf Hitler is known to be one of the most cruel rulers in the history. He roasted many Jew people inside gas chambers and tortured them to the maximum. He was the leader of Nazi Germany and continued to spread havoc around Europe before he committed a suicide in 1945.
Leopold II of Belgium
He was born in Brussels and was known to be cruel to the Africans and Congo people in particular. He sent his troops on a mission to search for rubber and ivory in Congo. He was responsible for forcing labor and causing death to as many as 3 million Congolese people.
He was the leader of Soviet Union from the year 1941 and brought atrocities to the Baltic states and the people of other countries. He used to kill people by starvation method which was very painful. He claimed responsibility to over 20 million deaths.
