What are the best Kinect games so far?
The Xbox Kinect sensor was one of the hottest gadgets on sale and they were literally flying off the shelves. But if you managed to grab yourself a Kinect sensor you probably want to know which games to buy. Well we’ve done our research and pulled together the best Kinect games so far to help you decide which ones to buy.
Coming in at fifth place is DanceMasters from Konami.
This Kinect Sensor game is all about dancing and offers you the ultimate dance club vibe in the comfort of your living room. Using the Kinect you’ll be able to watch your actions in real time and can even save your two favourite routines and have the back up dancers perform them! You can also take snapshots of your favourite moves and share them with your friends. If you have access to XboxLIVE you can challenge four friends to a dance off.
The DanceMasters game features 30 tracks from Hip Hop and R&B to Pop and Techno, you can also download new songs via XboxLIVE. There are three gameplay modes, Dance, Lesson and Status and a variety of difficulty levels including Light, Standard, Extreme and Stealth.
It’s not as easy to master as Dance Central, but if you’re a seasoned dancer you should be having fun in no time!
Your Shape: Fitness Evolved – Best Fitness Game for Kinect
Fans of the Wii Fit will love Your Shape: Fitness Evolved. Everything you want from a fitness programme without having to worry about a balance board or Wiimotes!
It’s really easy to choose a personal trainer to help you meet your specific fitness goals and then take a Yoga or Martial Arts class, or just play fun, family-friendly mini-games. As you exercise you will be given specific feedback on your every move all thanks to the game’s real-time precise tracking system.
The workouts in Your Shape: Fitness Evolved include a martial arts class lead by Michael George, who has trained celebrities including Reese Witherspoon and P.Diddy and a special weight loss class lead by Michelle Bridges, trainer for all 5 seasons on Australia’s “The Biggest Loser”.
Taking the number 3 spot is a game that younger gameplayers will love; Kinectimals.
Kinectimals invites children, their parents and animal lovers of all ages to build lasting friendships with some of the world’s most exotic creatures. Just like real pets, your Kinectimals will come running when they hear your voice, respond to commands such as “jump,” “roll over” and “play dead,” and purr with joy when you scratch them behind their ears.
It’s not quite as complex as a SIMS game but with 20 animal friends to choose from, many worlds to explore and treasures to unlock this game can become quite addictive!
It get’s better too: collectible, limited-edition plush toys will be available online and at popular retail stores. All you need to do is choose your new friend, scan the code with the Kinect sensor, then watch it come to life on the screen right before your eyes. With your very own plush pal you can keep your new friend with you even when you’re away from your Xbox 360.
Kinect Sports – Best Kinect Sports Game

You’re not only the star player, you are also the controller thanks to the Kinect Sensor. See a ball? Kick it. Spike it. Even give it a little topspin. Kinect Sports features soccer, beach volleyball, bowling, table tennis, track and field, and boxing.
This game is simple, intuitive and instantly fun so it makes for a great party experience, it doesn’t matter whether you are trying to outmaneuver the goalie to win the soccer match or cheering on your friends at ringside. More Top Rated Kinect Games
It’s been a while since the Kinect sensor was released and I’m still having fun with mine, I love Dance Central and am slowly working my way through the dances. My husband and I have nearly completed Kinect Adventures so it’s time to invest in some more top rated Kinect games!
Zumba seems to be one of this year’s fitness crazes, I know my friends swear by it for keeping them in shape, so it’s no surprise that Zumba Fitness has made the Amazon bestsellers list.
You can learn and perfect nine different dance styles: Reggaeton, Merengue, Salsa, Cumbia, Hip-Hop, Mambo, Rumba, Flamenco and Calypso in a high voltage party atmosphere. Just like Dance Central it includes ”Learn the Steps” training, Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced routines for all skill levels.
There are a few grumbles about this one on Amazon with people complaining that it’s not responsive to your moves, but it looks like they’ve now released a patch to resolve them.
If you’re a guy and you’re thinking that the Kinect is a girls’ world then look no further than Fighters Uncaged. Fighters Uncaged is the ultimate fighting game for the Xbox 360. You’ll need to have your wits about you as you take on the varied and seedy characters of the gameworld in tournament style fighting action using your fists, knees, feet, elbows and anything else you need to!
Using the power of the Kinect Sensor you can create and master 70 different types of moves pulled from a variety of real martial arts disciplines which can be used singularly, or strung together in combos for maximum impact. The game features 21 different gritty game environments in which you will be matched up against enemies with distinct fighting styles and character attributes. Additional features include voice activated special moves and two-player local support, including a co-op option.
Here’s what one guy had to say about Fighters Uncaged:
- “I’ve just moved up the ladder to league 2 today. I’ve played this game maybe 5 or 6 times. Each time I walk away pretty sweaty and have to take a shower. Its been a really good addition to the workout routine. Especially good is that as you fight the computer, you have to dodge punches which means leaning back very quickly many times at unexpected times. So, you’re using your stomach and lower back and keeping tight the whole time. My stomach and back were sore (in a good way) for the past few days and just are starting to feel ready for the game today. This game is a really, really good start on fighting games for kinect.
- I’ve seen reviews that seem to be written by people who were in the frustrated stage of review that I was in before I really worked out how to control the game. I wish they would keep at it and really do the training until they can successfully pull off the moves there before they write these reviews. This is a quality game. Its worth buying. You have to work at getting it down – but that’s like all sports. You have to practice and for the first time, video games are starting to feel like sports with the kinect. The more you train your movements, the better you will be at playing this game. And that’s exactly what I was looking for when I bought it. So, I really love this game and encourage people to buy it.”
This one is definitely going on my buy list!
