Best Handheld Vacuum for Pet Hair Reviews

best-handheld-vacuum-for-pet-hairPicture this – you cleaned the house yesterday, everything is spotless. That is, everything apart from one place. Your dark haired cat has sat on the beige sofa and moulted all over it. You have guests coming round, you’re in a rush and the big upright vacuum is stored in the cupboard on the floor below. Imagine you had a small handheld vacuum that you could quickly run over the sofa

Why choose a handheld vacuum?

  • Small / lightweight and very easy to move
  • Convenient for cleaning small areas (i.e. pet hair on the sofa)
  • Compliment an upright or canister vacuum – for occasional use
  • Cordless ones not restricted by cord length
  • Useful for other things (i.e. cleaning the car out)

When considering which model is going to the best handheld vacuum for pet hair it is important to think about how you’re going to be using the vacuum.

For example, if you’re looking to buy something for very occasional / emergency use, it’s probably not necessary to go for a top of the range expensive model. However, if this is something that you intend to use regularly and throughout your property, it’s going to be worth thinking about all options, especially the cordless handheld vacuums.

So… which model is the best handheld vacuum for pet hair?

Hoover Platinum Collection LiNX Cordless Pet Hand Vacuum

Hoover’s Platinum Collection LiNX Cordless Pet Hand Vacuum is an excellent piece of equipment. It has a good level of suction and is powerful for a handheld cordless vacuum.

Because it runs off a Lithium-Ion battery, the vacuum retains full power, no matter how low the battery level. So it’s full power until the second the battery runs out.

Something worth considering with this vacuum is how useful it is for cleaning the car as well. It’s so easy, due to it being cordless. At only 3.5 lbs it’s also very lightweight and practical for taking it round the house or wherever you please!

And just like the Hoover WindTunnel 2 Rewind Pet Plus upright vacuum, it comes with a special set of rubberized tools for tackling pet hair…

Dyson DC34

When you first see the Dyson DC34 you think to yourself, “this looks like a serious piece of kit”. Unfortunately, the DC34 is better on the eye than it is at vacuuming mess up.

We have some major gripes with this model and are surprised, with it being a Dyson. Firstly, the user is required to press and hold the trigger button for the entire time they want the vacuum on. This is really inconvenient and can be tiring if you have more than the odd clump of pet hair to suck up.

Secondly, it’s cordless, which in theory is great. However, the battery seems to run out extremely quickly. This makes vacuuming such a frustrating experience. The whole concept of a handheld vacuum is to make your job easier, take the hassle out of it. Such a shame that the negatives overshadow the positives, as the suction is mighty impressive.

In our humble opinion, there are better handheld vacuums on the market for a fraction of the price…

Cordless, Lightweight, Very good suction, Bagless, Lithium-ion battery, 5 year parts & labor warranty

Battery doesn’t last long, Have to hold the button down all the time while vacuuming
